Small things do Indeed Matter - 10.06.15

Dance is the vehicle for celebrations, story telling and is crucial to the preservation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural beliefs which have remained unchanged for thousands of years.

Ses Bero, 2014 NAISDA Graduate and one of NAISDA’s talented and culturally knowledgeable exponents knew only too well how much dance meant to him and his culture.  Unfortunately his dream of a career in the Performing Arts industry was nearly shattered when he suffered an injury and was told he would never dance or perform again unless he underwent knee reconstruction surgery on both knees.

With the waiting list for this type of surgery being years in New South Wales, Ses knew his dreams of a career in dance was over before it began.

Then the most amazing thing happened – people worked together to make his surgery, rehabilitation and dreams of a career in dance a reality.

NAISDA and Ses Bero would like to thank the following people for their life-changing generosity and for stepping outside of their comfort zone to change someone else’s life in the most profound way. In addition, Ses would like to acknowledge and thank Anne Charlton for her perseverance and determination in making this happen.
