NAISDA DANCE COLLEGE GARABARA NGURRA DANCE CAMP 2015 - 21.08.15

NAISDA Dance College would like to welcome all the Garabara Ngurra Dance Camp students who arrived at NAISDA today – Monday 24 July 2015.  We look forward to working with you this week and can’t wait to see your performance this Friday 28 August 2015.

Garabara Ngurra Dance Camp (Dance Camp in Darug language) is funded by Arts NSW and is a unique opportunity for Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander young people (aged 14-18) to experience and share Indigenous culture and dance.  In addition, they will be given the opportunity to work with NSW Aboriginal Dance Artists, NAISDA teachers and current DA’s.

This year, we have 11 male and 17 female participants coming to the Camp held at NAISDA Dance College on the Central Coast NSW.  They will be travelling from communities across NSW including Broken Hill, Coffs Harbour, Vincentia, Cowra, Wollongong, Campbelltown, Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains.

Further to this, participants will also attend an exciting excursion to the Powerhouse Youth Theatre in Fairfield to see a Parkour show called ‘Jump First Ask Later’ produced by Force Majeure. For some of the young people from regional communities the performance excursion is a highlight of the Camp.

There will be a showing on FRIDAY 28TH AUGUST at 11.30am at NAISDA Dance College.
